L'Etui de la Fleur lorque la Fleur est passee, Il est couvert d'une Resine tres odoriferante, que recuillent les Hottentots pour sen parfumer.; The beautiful flower of the Protea Argentea [Silver Protea], which 1. is found on the Langkloof mountains. 2. The bracts [casing] of the flower when the latter is dead. It is covered with a very odoriferous [sweet-smelling] resin which the Hottentots collect to scent themselves [use as a perfume]. [Probably intended to be a Protea multibracteata or P. punctata. See Notes.]
