The Parliament Collection:
Four separate water-colours framed in one. Seems to have been designed as one although the top and bottom wagon pictures were painted on separate small pieces of paper with perforated edges, that were glued onto the sheet. The two centre images of people were painted directly onto the sheet. The images are all bordered with blue, black and red ink lines. The work as a whole is contained by a black border. Top: covered wagon drawn by two oxen; centre left, two men and a woman; centre right an elderly man and a woman; and at bottom two horses pulling an open wagon loaded with barrels.[4 studies of Khoi, Cape Muslims and two wagons. ca 1838]; 1. The Parliament Collection:
Cartoon with six men seated at a table while another man is watching them through an open window. Voice bubbles carry the narrative. The cartoon shows Lord Castlereagh surrounded by his alleged agents provocateur - Reynolds of Ireland, Castle of Spafields and Oliver of Leeds or Oliver the Spy. The last, under the name of William Oliver Jones, was sent out to the Cape and found official employment. He is said to have acted as a spy for Lord Charles Somerset.

REDUNDANT ASSET - An identical locomotive of this class - Locomotive 19D #3323 is preserved at the Transnet Transport Museum George and forms part of the Transnet Collection with 4 other 19D's on loan to preservation groups. The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David Bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes. Locomotive drawings (plans) and other information relating to this class are in safe custody at the Transnet Heritage Library. Compliance to the NHRA will be part of the condition of sale.

REDUNDANT ASSET - The 15 Class locomotive consists of 9 variations , 15 / 15A / 15AR / 15B /15 BR/ 15CB / 15CA /15E AND 15F of which 4 variations, 15A # 1791 at Bloemfontein, 15 AR # 1850 at Bloemfontein, 15 CA # 2802 at Esselenpark, 15E # 2878 at Bloemfontein are preserved and forms part of the Transnet Collection, A further 9 of the 15 Class type are on Loan to a preservation groups. The history of this class is captured in two publications " locomotives of the South African railways" by Leith Paxton and David Bourne and " Railways of Southern Africa 150 years by Jean Dulez. A copy of both publications are available at the museum for reference purposes.
